Although born and raised in southern Maine, Leigh Rush Olson, founder of Old Port Historic Tours, began leading walking tours in New York City’s historic financial district back in 1997 while getting her BA in History at CUNY Brooklyn College. Here we are in 2026 and Leigh is still going strong leading historic tours in Portland, Maine since 2008! 

In volunteerism, Leigh was twice elected Historian for her local chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution and served two appointed terms as the DAR Maine State American History Chairwoman. Leigh's DAR patriot ancestors are Jacob Rush - Revolutionary War Veteran, and Dr. Benjamin Rush, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. 

Moreover, Leigh is a resident of Kennebunk, Maine where she actively contributes to community service as the founder and administrator of the West Kennebunk Neighborhood Watch. You're in great hands!
